Machine Embroidery Quilts

Splendid in Blue  -  made April to November 2006.  Machine embroidery cross-stitch designs from TreeTrunk.com,  my first attempt to combine machine embroidery and quilting.  Over 10,000 yards of blue embroidery thread used to stitch the designs.  Techniques used are machine embroidery, machine piecing, and machine quilting.  Quilt size is 72" x 72".
Baltimore in Bloom  -  made September to October 2005.  Machine embroidery designs based on quilt blocks by Pam Bono, purchased thru Husqvarna/Viking dealer.  DMC cotton machine embroidery thread used in embroidery stitches.  Techniques used are machine embroidery, machine piecing, and hand quilting.  Quilt size is 18" x 18".   This quilt was awarded an Exceptional Hand Quilting award.
AquaMarine  -  embroidered blocks July to October 2007, set together in December 2007, machine quilted in August 2010.   These embroidery designs are from the book "Aquamarine Ambience" by Jenny Haskins.  This was my first attempt to learn multi-hooping,  the quilt stitching time is just a little over 118 hours and  thread used is over 11,000 yards.  Pre-quilted my background fabric and then placed the embroidery stitches over the quilting.  Quilt setting is my adaptation from the original setting, in order to make a larger bed-size quilt.  Techniques used are multi-hooping machine embroidery, machine piecing, and machine quilted.   The machine quilting was executed by Kay Costner of Tyler, Texas.  Quilt size is 89" x 89".
Compass of Change  -  made January to February 2009.   This quilt is a block of the month program from HoopSisters.  This was their first BOM, and I chose to use Civil War reproduction fabrics to make it more of a traditional pattern.  There is not a single hand stitch in this quilt other than the stitching to hold the quilt label in place.  I wanted to attempt to make a quilt without any hand stitching used.   Since the techniques included using the embroidery machine to piece the blocks, stitch the quilting designs, and to add the decorative stitching  and then to use the sewing machine to add a decorative stitch to hold the sashing strips in place, I decided to try to add the binding with the sewing machine also.  Quilt size is 48" x 48".
Garden Club  -  machine embroidery applique blocks March to June 2009,  machine pieced July 2009,  and machine quilted in July 2014.  This quilt is an adaptation from a machine embroidery quilt by Smith Street Designs.  I chose to change the border to a pieced unit border instead of just adding a wide piece of fabric.  My fabric choices kept the quilt in a traditional look, and the quilting kept to the same feeling as being traditional.  Techniques used are machine embroidery applique, machine piecing, and machine quilted.  I am a lover of the quilt patterns by Kathy Connor of Smith Street Designs,  but I believe this remains my favorite of all the quilts from Smith Street that I have made.  The machine quilting executed by Cynthia Allen of Dew, Texas.  Quilt size is 69" x 86".
Go Bloom !  -  made in September 2011.  This quilt is an adaptation from Sarah Vedeler.   My change to the quilt is that I choose to make the quilt square and not round as the original design indicated.  Techniques include machine embroidery applique, hand applique, machine piecing, and machine quilted by myself.  Quilt size is 41" x 41"
Sincerely Yours  -  machine embroidery in December 2011,  set together in January 2012,  machine quilt in October 2015.  Another quilt made using the embroidery designs from Smith Street Designs, my favorite digitizer for machine applique quilts.  Used fabrics from a collection by Nancy Halverson.  Techniques include machine embroidery multi-hooping,  machine piecing, and machine quilted.  The quilting was executed by Cynthia Allen of Dew, Texas.   Quilt size is 69" x 86".
Festive Flourish  -  made August to September 2014.  These are designs by Purely Gates and quilt setting was one designed by Patricia Gates to showcase these designs.  Techniques used are machine embroidery using mylar,  machine piecing, and machine quilting by myself.  Quilt size is 56" x 56".
Halloween Town  -  made November to December 2014.  The embroidery blocks are designs by Anita Goodesigns, but the quilt setting is my original setting.  Techniques used are machine embroidery, machine embroidery applique, machine piecing, and machine quilting by myself.  Quilt size is 52" x 52".
Fantasia  -  machine embroidery December 2013 to January 2014,  set together in April 2014, borders embroidered in January 2015, and machine quilted in February 2015.   While my love is machine embroidery applique, every once in awhile I enjoy just 'stitches' designs.  And when I am in the mood for that style quilt I look to Janet Sansom Designs for my inspiration.  This is my adaptation from her Fantasia collection 1 and 2.  Again the backgrounds were pre-quilted and then the embroidery work executed.  Techniques included are machine embroidery, machine piecing, and machine quilting by myself.  Quilt size is 58" x 58".
The Doll House Quilt  -  made in September 2017.  This quilt is my interpretation of designs by Ananda's Divine Designs.  This was absolutely the most FUN I have ever had making a quilt of any size, this was my dollhouse to build and decorate.  Techniques included machine embroidery applique and machine quilting by myself.  Quilt size is 35" wide x 31" tall.
Mint Chocolate Legacy  -  made October to December 2017.  Machine embroidery cross-stitch designs from TreeTrunk.com.  I chose a teal colored solid background fabric and used a dark brown chocolate embroidery thread for the stitches.  Techniques used are machine embroidery, machine piecing, and machine quilting by myself.  Quilt size is 69" x 69".
Christmas Gold  -   made April to May 2018.  The embroidery designs are from Anita Goodesigns, the OnPoint Christmas package.  The embroidery stitching used almost 5000 yards of gold thread.  Techniques used are machine embroidery stitching, machine piecing, and machine quilting by myself.   Quilt size is 35" x 46".
